NEW YORK CITY VTES LEAGUE #4

NEW YORK CITY VTES LEAGUE RULES

Introduction: So what do you do when you have a small play group, not many tournaments and are trying to make things not stagnant for your players? You start up a league that's what! This is a description of what the New York City VTES league rules will be. Other people are free to use this idea, or hopefully use this idea to spice up this great game in other ways.

Disclaimer: This is not a "official" tournament in terms of VEKN records and rulings. This is an exercise to have fun while being competitive and hopefully to encourage my New York players to try out new decks.

Background: The New York VTES crew is about 8 consistent players and 6 inconsistent players. We play every Wednesday and Friday. It is a good group of people with interesting decks and varying play styles.  Okay, enough of this, on to the League!

LEAGUE RULES
The rules are simple.

OVERALL RULES
1) First person to Five Game Wins (GW) wins the league.
2) If someone gets a GW, THAT PERSON Victory Points (VP) in that game are NOT counted.
3) If someone gets VPs but does not get a GW, those points ARE COUNTED.
4) Half points (.5) are not counted.
5) If the is NO game win, then Victory Points (VP) are counted.
6) FIVE Victory Points equal one Game Win
7) In 6 player game (see below), X effects (ex: Conservative Agitation, Parity Shift, Slave Auction) are capped at 5.
8) When a deck has won a Game win (not due to 5VP = 1GW), that deck cannot be played again BY THAT PERSON for the rest of the League.

RULES IN TEST
1) No 3-player league games
2) 4 player - time limit: 1 hour 30 minutes
3) 5 player - time limit: 2 hours
4) 6 player - time limit: 2 hour 30 minutes
5) 1 League game per day per player

Common questions asked in development:

1) Q: Why have a league?
A: To add a bit of competitiveness with some actual prizes.

2) Q: Why only to 5 Game Wins?
A: I want the leagues to be short, to test out some League rules and to get prizes in the hands of the people who play. If someone wins early... okay next League! So far in the first two leagues we have averaged about 4 months, which for me this is just about right.

3) Doesn't the people who go to Wed and Fri games have an advantage?
A: Technically... yes. But the purpose of the League is to encourage people to play. And the person who plays the extra day still needs to win of course.

4) Q: Are you still going to have tournaments?
A: Yes. A smaller tournament is in the works but I want to try and get out-of-towners to come.
(setting one up soon, and there is a DC one in June!)

5) Q: What is the prize support?
A: Currently the prize support is 10 packs. In addition, for those who RSVP AND show up (obviously) for a night of gaming will get a bonus random pack. The winner of the league can choose to trade 1-pack for a rare (not-super rare) of my collection.

6) Q: Why allow 6 player games?
A: Because I don't want to penalize people for showing up. RULE: If we have 7 players, 1 person will play two games but can only win on one table (decided randomly and hidden to that player).

  1. So the league as started.

    Week 1:
    A saturday game: 3/24/13
    Sonam A. - 1 VP, John W. 1VP

    Tuesday: 3/26/13
    Adam H. 1 GW Shawn S. 1 VP

    No game Friday - 3/29/13

    The Game on Tuesday:
    Author: Adam H

    Adam H - AUS CEL PRE w/ guns
    Ray R. - Toolbox Tremere
    Shawn S - Personal Involvement starring Anson
    Kym A - Tszimce something (ever evolving!)

    It was:
    Adam H -> Ray R -> Shawn S -> Kym A

    Well for me, this was a start with frustration. My deck is a 'deck of fives' with some exceptions. Meaning 5 of each type of card. I had a crappy hand full of intercept and bleed. But I didn't want to block Kym because I didnt know what he did.

    So we all brought out minions, I was lucky that Kym did not draw Mishenka at all, so had only Dragon (only!) and olga and horatio. I was forced to take bleeds or bounce bleeds of one. I even rushed for hands for 1 just to cycle cards.

    Meanwhile, Ray which is a deck that usually gets out Carna or Uta, drew neither... so he had 4 weenie tha dom aus minions. Because of this he actually put some decent pressure on Shawn who wasn't drawing majesties.

    But Ray made a mistake mid game and tapped out to try and keep the edge and make me think he had wakes. However, my hand was still "garbage" and just filled with Presence. So even if he caught me, I had to play my cards to draw into combat to handle Kym. But I was never caught, so I ousted Ray.

    Shawn, while worried now about me (especially when he rescued on e of my guys from torpor the previous turn) realized that I wanted him to kill Kym. So with a continuos use of Toreador Grandball, Kym died to some votes.

    In the heads up, I started drawing into combat. I did overextend one turn by bringing out another minion, but Shawn was short one stealth to kill me, and then I ousted him getting the game win. Adam 1 GW, Shawn S. 1 VP

  4. Week 4: 4/14/13 - 4/20/13

    Tuesday: Adam H. 1 GW, Shawn S. 1 VP, Sonam A 1 VP
    Friday: No game scheduled

    Tuesday Report (Adam Hulse)
    Kym A. - Black Hand Bleed
    Adam H - Istarri Multi act
    Shawn S - Anson Personal involvement deck
    Ben P. - Kysaid Bleed
    Sonam S - Giovanni Bruise Bleed

    Kym A -> Adam H. -> Shawn S -> Ben P -> Sonam S

    So Kym started off bad (only to get worse), by not drawing Appius Claudius Corvus.
    First, I was worried for several reasons, one both shawn and kym are known to play intercept - but that proved to be false.
    Second, when I saw Kym, Sonam and Ben, I realized I was at the end of deflection chain. Always bad. [also proved to be false because Kym only drew 1 deflection.]

    So I was doing well, bringing out guys, and villeining. Shawn drew is ventrue head quarters and was putting some decent pressure on Ben.

    The big play was when Ben played Song of Pan and lunged Sonam. Sonam had 3 deflections in hand which led to Kym's death.

    I decided to let Shawn kill Ben. I knew I could handle Sonam better (although it was close). I was worried that Ben's stealth would just get through my 2 int No Secrets.

    By now I drew my Talbots chainsaw. I multi-rushed shawn to oblivion, and then managed to oust him before Sonam lunged on me. He actually had a good shot if he could draw one more block fails. But he did not so I took the game.

    Tuesday: Sonam A. 1 GW, Ben P. 1 VP, Kym 1 VP

    Tuesday Report: (From Sonam A.)

    So, the table was:
    Ray R. - Francois Villon vote deck
    Ben P. - Obeah/Dominate Flash Grenade deck
    Adam H. - AAA vote
    Sonam - Lutz Anarch Revolt + Banishment deck
    Kym - Alonso Petrodon +Nos w/ dom

    The game started off with Ray getting out a little dude, and hammering Ben with 2 Con Ags. This limited Ben to 2 minions for most of the game, but he used them to good effect, as they were Matthias (so he could defend himself from further votes), and Catherine du Bois (dom and obf for a bit of stealth).

    It became clear to me early on that I would be in a lot of trouble if I couldn't get votes off the table. So, I turned the game into a game of "save Ben". I figured if I could get Ray and Adam off the table, I would win a 3 player, since I'd have vote lock with Lutz (and Ben had been hamstrung by getting hit so hard early). This plan almost backfired, since Ray talked Kym into leaving him alive for an extra turn, so that he could Fear of Mekhet Lutz. Fortunately, Ben was trying to kill Adam, and so I got a stealth bleed bounced to me (from Ben to Adam to me), which I bounced cross table to Ray. This killed him and thus Fear never went off. Once Ray was gone, I helped get Adam off the table. The endgame was pretty simple, as I laid down 4 Anarch revolts, and KRC'ed and Banished Kym and Ben into oblivion. I just had to be careful to prioritize banishing Ben, so he couldn't oust me.

  7. Week 7: 5/5/13 - 5/11/13

    Tuesday: Ben P. 1 GW

    Friday: Kym A. 1 GW

    Friday Report: (From Kym A.)

    Players:
    Sonam Adinolf - Anson/Guns with Democritus
    Kym Alishahi - Anson Guns with Small caps
    Nick Fofonoff - Fuckers getting Grenades and Hawgs with Walk of Flame
    Peter Kapsalis - Malk Anti Vote/Bleed/Block
    Ray L. - Tremere Anti Intercept Combat

    Seating:
    First Loser: Me
    Second Loser: Peter
    Third Loser: Sonam
    Fourth Loser: Nick
    Fifth Loser: Ray

    Turn 2 I realized I didn't put the Ashur's back in this deck. So I was a sad panda. To make matters worse, I had intercept Thaumaturgy as a predator and Peter playing possible Malk anti in front of me but with a Peter twist meaning I likely had intercept on either side. Sonam was already my natural enemy because we both play Anson/Ashurs and I had no Ashurs and I couldn't afford to piss off Predator/Prey. When on Turn 3 Ray and Nick put each others minions in torpor I realized I had to let Peter move unchecked against Sonam.

    I stopped Ray's rescue and rescued one of Nick's guys. Then Nick made a 3 turn truce with Ray which meant I had to play entirely defensive and tried to focus the table vs Sonam. With Peter unwilling to let Sonam bloat, Nick worried more backwards than forwards and Ray coming at me with little success and Sonam getting the better of fights with Peter and having decent pool generation it more or less worked out in that manner.

    Ultimately the game looked like it was going to time. But with 10 minutes left after successfully holding off Ray's salvos thanks to Montreal and magnums at close range I was able to play Tension & Fame on Peter who was wide open, I ousted him. Sonam tried to get Nick before the game timed and RAy tried to oust me but I held off with 5 people and one more chance at Soname with 5 minutes left.

    With 4 Bums Rushes and Magnums on each of my 3 minions I beelined for Democritus who I had famed courtesy of Anthelios recurring Fame. Sonam was at 6 so I needed to take out D and one other minion which would give me the Tension/Fame ouste. Anson's rush was blocked by Felicia Nostrom and we traded minions. My second Rush ended with Volker and D at 2 blood a piece but a psyche to redo the fight and an additional strike allowed me to drop D and I got the GW with 2 minutes left.

    Thoughts: I thought Sonam made a critical error by letting me have Anson. I was 1st and he was 3rd which meant we both needed 3 turns but he played a dreams first turn so he could have gotten 4 down on A and gotten him first but chose not to do so. I think the takeaway is even if your Anson deck can do without Anson, get fucking Anson. If a VP drops elsewhere, to make it happen so be it. If it's not your prey getting the point, it's not that bad.

    Tuesday Game Report (By Adam H.)
    [I was behind on reporting so I'm just going to write up a quick report for Sam]

    Mark A. - Group 1 Ventrue - multi act
    Shawn S. - Negral deck
    Sam N. - Tzimice Vote
    Ray R. - Brujah Anti anarch
    Kym A. - Black Hand Bleed starring Appius Claudius Corvus

    Mark -> Shawn -> Sam -> Ray - Kym

    So the game started off normally. Shawn was slowed down by a sudden or two. But likewise he managed to block a couple of Mark's 1 stealth actions (including a Parity shift). Kym pecked at Mark's pool, once in a while getting bounced. Mark using all of his 2nd traditions to attempt to block Kym (and getting stealthed by).

    Sam brought out some minions and started voting, between him and mark, they had vote lock so Ray, Shawn and Kym had to take the damage. Ray unfortunately had a combat hand the entire game and couldn't get rid of it before he died).

    Kym had an opportunity to kill Mark with an Enkil Cog bleed on Mark's turn, with a DI in hand to cancel the bounce. But Mark was ready for it (which attributed to why his hand was jammed) because he had a second wake and bounce. This bounced bleed killed Shawn.

    In the final minutes Sam was able to oust Kym. 1-2 turns more were played and the game went to time. Sam 1 GW, Mark A 1 VP

    Tuesday: Kym A. 1 vp, Shawn S. 1 vp

    Friday: No game

    Ray R. - Imbued combat
    Kym A. - Tzimisce bleed and block (trying out some new vamps)
    Dan R. - Gwendolyn and friends
    Sonam A. - Stanislava bleed
    Shawn S. - Assamite Black Hand

    [Tournament Report by Shawn S.]

    An early Ancient Influence from Sonam set the tone of the game with the Imbued (Ray) going down by 5 and the Gwendolyn (Dan) and Stanislava (Sonam) going up by 6. Meshenka (Kym) then soon-after blocked Stanislava (Sonam) coming out of torpor, where she had sent herself, burning her. Shawn's deck had breathing time thanks to that, a Pentex on Ingrid Rossler (Sonam) who had to quickly come out, and some Villein's once his deck started working. Meanwhile Meshenka (Kym) and Gwendolyn (Dan) torpored each other but Meshenka (Kym) was able to come back, Gwendolyn (Dan) never did. Meanwhile the Imbued [what do you mean they have individual names?] (Ray) managed to torpor both some Tzimisce and Assamites to the shock of all involved. Shawn's deck flow helped him to oust Ray once he had a seraph and a tattoo signal allowing his multi-acting to start up, and Kym ousted Dan whose Crusher never really led the recovery.

    Sonam A. - Kysaid bleed
    Elan R. - Tremere with Hawgs
    Sam N. - Tzimisce Vote

    Kym -> Sonam -> Elan -> Sam

    [I just watched some of the game so I will give some highlights.]
    - Sonam started off strong but quickly ran out of stealth and couldn't seem to draw into any. Elan's Carlton Van Wyck stopped some stuff.
    - Carlton apparently was the hero because Sam also could not draw stealth, so between carlton and Kym's Tzimisce, he couldn't get a vote down.
    - Kym killed Sonam with consistant bleeds and Elan killed Sam
    - With what I could tell being an strong fight between the two of them (Elan and Kym) as the clocked clicked down. But what I believe what happened was that Sam hurt Kym's vampires to much before he died. So with very little time to spare, Elan killed Kym to get the GW. Elan R. GW, Kym 1 VP

    Table Report (Written by Adam H)

    Ray R. - Imbued Combat
    Shawn S. - Harbingers Wall
    Charles S - Assamite bleed with Bombs
    Mark A. - Weenie Assamie bleed and con boon
    Adam - Anarch deck

    Ray -> Shawn -> Charles -> Mark -> Adam

    Tournament Report (by Adam H)

    Well I didn't win, but Charles is new to our group (welcome Charles!) so I figured I'd write this one up.

    Everyone started pretty standard. Ray had some difficulty because it was his second time playing imbued and he kept forgetting phases (a harsh thing for imbued). That plus his predator and prey were playing fortitude made it very difficult.

    Still Ray gave Shawn some difficulty (even though Shawn played a Mercy of Seth to burn a guy) and thus Shawn didn't go forward.

    I (Adam) went forward a little but was stymied by the imbued. I knew I had to keep pushing at them to play their convictions other wise it just becomes a monster. I had trouble by not drawing pool gain and also the first Baron title I got, got called off by Ray (he had one vamp) with a clever use of rose Foundation and the edge.

    Mark has his own difficulties in that the way he gains votes to make con boon pass is Almut. But Adam was playing Angelo (destroy locations), and Charles was playing Bombs!

    - There was a funny note of Khabar: Glory being contested between Mark and Charles. When Mark yields it, Charles gets it back just to be burned.

    So Charles was the only one marching along. Bled and bled and bled. The funny thing was that everyone thought it was a combat deck (I guess because of the Bombs) but it was a Cloak the Gathering - Loss bleed deck. Mark got ousted after getting Adam low. Adam managed to kill Ray before dying to Charles. In the heads up it looked like Shawn had Charles is number, but then the clock ran out. Charles 1 GW, Adam 1 VP.

    Week 13: 6/30/13 - 7/6/13

    Tuesday: Elan 1 GW, Kym 2 VP

    This was an odd duck. i actually remember most of it.

    Elan -> Toreador
    Sam -> Count Germaine mult-rush
    Sonam -> ??
    Adam -> Nergal Powerbleed
    Kym -> Cock Robin

    Elan -> Sam -> Sonam -> Adam -> Kym

    Game started out okay for Adam and Kym, bringing out minions with no pressure. Sam laid heavy into Sonam and Count Germaine perm rush and immune to weapons (Elan's Toreador with sticks) messed up Elan as well.

    I (Adam) was worried until I drew my secure haven. But then Kym played Temptation of Greater Power and the bidding war for nergal began! It ended up with Sonam stealing him for like 8-9 pool. that was key play one that took a while to figure out.

    The second one was very minor but ended up winning for Elan. Sam's deck actually had deflections which he then drew later game (which is good). But he then brought out a dom minion (Dr Julius I think). A bleed got sent to me, and I sent it cross table to Sam because sending it to Kym did nothing since he had a lot of pool and I didn't want my prey to kill his prey. Sam bounced it, but that tapped him. Kym did not have any rushes in hand and was unable to prevent Elan from presence bleeding Sam out. Sonam and myself promptly died after that. Kym killed Elan in end game.

  19. Week 14: 7/7/13 - 7/13/13

    Tuesday: Shawn S. 1 GW (Swept)

    Friday: Nick F. (Swept)

    A week of sweeps! Here is Nick's report below (will take two posts)
    -----
    Report on VTES League game held on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2013 by Nick Fofonoff.

    It was a four-player game with Ray L. starting first with a Brujah bruise bleed deck using Conditionings, Torn Signposts, and various Celerity cards. I went second with a Caitiff/Brujah low to mid-cap swarm deck using Effective Managements, Minion Taps, Boons and a bunch of miscellaneous crap. Sonam Adinolf went third with Anarch Converts (The Baron showed up too) using a lot of stealth bleed and more effective miscellaneous crap than mine. Peter Kapsalis went last and I don't even know what clan he was playing with (he was too far away and by the time I was on him his vampires weren't up to a whole lot) but he was using a LOT of Intercept and also bleed reduction, Deflections, Kine Resources Contested and bleeds.

    I had a quick start (thanks to Effective Management) being able to bring out two one caps on turn one, including Uriah Winter who I am proud to say, I held onto for the entire game. Ray put a Haven Uncovered on my other vampire Nik, who was intercepted by Volker thanks to Nik's special ability (all Brujah gain + 1 Intercept) sending the poor weenie into torpor for the rest of the game.

    Sonam was doing a good job of putting pressure on Pete early in the game. Sonam told me later that my Rampaging his Barrens (took two attempts) kept the bleed card that would have ousted Pete out of his hands for just long enough. He also undid a Boon I played on Peter with Blood Trade. Really annoying since I had a hand more than half full of Master Cards.

    Ray landed some heavy bleeds on me that put my survival into question - naturally I was afraid to block him with my combatless weenies. So I put my back into bleeding Sonam out and ignored Pete's helpful suggestion to rescue Nik (whom he was kind enough to trade a blood onto earlier.) I succeeded and Sonam "Did not punish me for doing my job" and didn't block my bleeds since I had four bleeders to his two blockers and had made clear my intentions to go in with all of them.

  20. Report on VTES League game held on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2013 by Nick Fofonoff. [continued]

    I went after Pete with the other two vampires whose bleeds were neutralized by Petes vampire's machinations. Those tricks cost them blood however and this proved crucial.

    Even with the 6 Pool for ousting Sonam, I was in rough shape. Two of my vampires were in Torpor and there was very little blood on the other three. Ray, after being bled down to five, started rushing backwards. Pete's last untorpored vampire (he only had two up) called a KRC, made the terms two on Ray and two on himself, neutralized Ray's voters and left the vote up to me. Suspecting tricks, and not wanting Ray that vulnerable at three Pool, I voted it down. Pete had recovered to 11 pool as well.

    At this point, I needed time to mend my position, and Ray bought me that time by not only putting Pete's last vampire in torpor, but by diablerizing both of them on the subsequent turn. This put much needed pool on his own drained vampires, but it also allowed me to have my own vampires back in shape and adding Lupo to the mix. At this point Pete had eight Pool left and I just sent four vampires two turns in a row to finish him off. Ray was trying to beat me down but was unsuccessful.

    When it was just Ray and myself left it became a numbers game. Every fight we got in allowed him to put one of my six ready (I had brought out Black Cat with the extra Pool, but Ray's minions beat her down into torpor before I got to use her) vampires in torpor, but cost him precious blood. In the end I had three vampires with one blood each while both of his had to spend his last turn hunting.

    Since he had only one Pool left...

    It was a close game though and I think it could have gone to anyone.

    [Thanks Nick for the Report!]

  21. And here is Shawn S. Report from July 9th.

    sorry about the lateness of this "report" and its sketchy brevity ...

    for this Tuesday 9 July

    Kym. A - ?
    Elan R. - Presence obfuscate vote
    Shawn S. - Assamite Black Hand
    Mark A. - ?
    Ray R. - ?

    Shawn was able to wear through the usually resilient Mark with his mid to large capacity multi-acting Black Hand Assamites. Meanwhile Kym had hit Elan early and he was unable to effectively move forward, he also seemed to be hampered by some poor deck-flow. An early cross-table Gehenna card saw the Wolves Feeding early, and hence most of their actions going through with impunity. Unfortunately the obfuscate element of Elan's vote deck were missing and so the awakened blood of the Assamites were able to stop a late game Ancient Influence which would have added 20 pool to the table. Shortly after that last ditch effort to try and save people, the Methuselahs started to fall in order for the Assamites.

      From Shawn S. [Thank's Shawn for the report!]
      Here's the report from last week, 10 September

      Kym A. - Gangrel, rush, test deck
      Shawn S. - Follower of Set, Nakhthorheb spell of life, test desk
      Adam H. - Assamite contract, test deck
      Elan R. - Toreador Antitribu, dancing with the stars in their eyes (walking sticks and Palla Grande)
      Cory S. - Ventrue Antitribu, bleed

      The table placement and deck styles dictated the outcome of this game as much, if not moreso, than the individuals playing. The Gangrel and Assamites both had a strong rush element, although no Gangrel with superior animalism ever came out which restricted that element of the deck. Nevertheless the Ventrue Antitribu were an obvious wall of dominate waiting to fall forwards and the Toreador Antitribu were able to chip away at Cory's pool who didn't seem to have too many deflections. Meanwhile Nakhthorheb built things up slowly (but a little bit quicker thanks to an early Villein and self Temptation) and the Assamites were more concerned in making sure the Toreador Antitribu didn't get out of hand.

      Thanks to a presumably good-looking hand Cory, whose pool also suffering under the constant threat of the Toreador Antitribu, made his move forward and just missed the mark. Elan cleaned up his vp shortly thereafter and Nakhthorheb completed his spell sending a stream of mummys forward. The Assamites, who had been concentrating too much forwards, fell under the onslaught and the Toreador Antitribu and finally Gangrel fell shortly afterwards.

    Adam H. - Follower of Set, temptation
    Kym A. - Gangrel, rush,
    Shawn S. - My Infernal Kin Against the World, Baali vote
    Sonam A. - Gargyole/Tremere antitribu

    Everything started amicably enough with everybody, the Followers of Set brought out some small capacity vampires and and started building up resources with allies (including a Carlton who proved pesky for the Gargoyles) and locations, the Gangrel likewise were building up to attack as necessary and the Gargoyles came out with Keith Moody looking to block as necessary. The Baali were a bit larger and came out a bit slower. As the game developed, the Followers of Set tempted Badger who quickly suicided by diablarising the Anarch Convert in the employ of his infernal masters. The Baali started voting and easily got past the intercept put forward by the Gargoyles. The Gargoyles fell to the Baali, and the Gangrel fell to the Followers of Set, the Baali were now left with the wealth of resources (allies, locations, etc) built up by the Followers of Set in front of them. Annazir and Xeper started making some tactical strikes against the resources and the empire of the Followers quickly crumbled falling to the greater temptation of the infernal.

    October 11th Friday - Sonam 1 GW [Sonam takes the lead!]

    Tournament Report from Sonam.
    The Table:
    Sonam (me) - Gargoyle combat wall, starring Chaundice
    Nick Fafinoff-Toreador Celerity Weapons
    John Whelan-Some deck involving Matthias and Ladislas Toth
    Peter Kapsalis-Tsimisze toolbox with Sha ennu and righteous endeavor

    On turn 3, and indeed for much of the game, it looked like Nick was going to steamroll John, and then Peter. John rushed backwards with Matthias on turn 3, against Marianna Gilbert, who Nick had laughingly equipped with an RPG-Launcher the turn before. Nick then proceeded to outmaneuver John, and have the combat go THREE rounds, dealing 12 damage with the RPG. At this point, I thought I was screwed, but I held fast and started tooling up. I got down an Abbot and Razor Bat, and started blocking Nick's undirected actions, and bouncing Peter's bleeds. Eventually I got a couple of clutch rushes down on Nick, and finished him off by Faming his Anneke and forcing a block with tiny bleeds. After that, John and Peter fell quickly, since John had never recovered, and Peter had drawn no pool gain.

  30. (Missing 1 VP for Kym A)

    Tuesday November 5th

    Shawn S. - Ayo Igoli vote and bleed deck
    Sonam A. - Imbued
    Kym A. - Group 2-3 Tzimisce intercept combat
    Adam - Group 4-5 Tzimisce vote
    Cory - Malgorzata/Cesaweayo bloat, block

    This was a game where initial table placement helped to define the entirety of the game. Sonam started getting Imbued out, doing a number of Imbued shenanigans whilst Kym got Meshenka first, Cory got Malgorzata and Adam got Xipe Totec, with Shawn getting Ayo Igoli, quickly followed by Ubende. Therefore on the vote front Meshenka and Malgorzata tended to cancel each other out and the Ayo Igoli vote deck had the vote advantage early. Meanwhile the new school Tzimisce stopped all of Malgorzata's actions which meant that the deck never started to build up, and hence never moved forwards. Meanwhile, despite the intercept of the Imbued, the combined forces of Ayo Igoli, Ubende and Thomas de Lutries (and the occasional Tupdog) weakened them sufficiently. With the combined table hate of the Imbued and the constant pressure from their predator they finally fell, but not before they had weakened the old school Tzimisce. The new school Tzimisce and Ayo Igoli combined to destroy their respective preys, and the old school Tzimisce laid down their arms to fall before Ayo Igoli, mindful of the league rules. Mindful of the same league rules, Ayo Igoli pre-emptively banished Xipe Totec, one round before Xipe Totec was about to do the same on Ubende thereby removing the greatest of the resources of the new school Tzimisce who fell quickly afterwards. Meanwhile Malgorzata who was still unable to do much was diablerized after being kissed by the sun, and her Methuselah fell shortly afterwards.
